A couple of days ago I purchased a 2006 NC. It has the 6CD Bose head unit. I presume i’d have to press the ‘load’ button to put the CD’s in, but the head unit doesn’t seem to do anything. I’m not getting any error messages, it’s literally doing nothing.
I’ve pressed the ‘CD’ button too just in case the last owner left any CD’s in, but once again the head unit does nothing at all, it just stays on the radio.
I’ve also pressed the eject button and still nothing at all.
Am I doing something wrong? Is there a way to reset the unit?
Sounds Silly But…Are you sure you have a Bose unit? Photo’s would help. When I bought my 2008 Niseko it was advertised as having a 6cd unit fitted. ALL the text on the front of the unit suggested this.
NOPE !! After a 250 ml drive home tried to load cd’s. Would only accept 1. When I got around to removing unit ( very fiddly ) it had a single cd unit fitted. I bought the 6cd changer from MX5 parts but looking at the space available I had a change of heart. I bought an adapter box in stead fitted it into the glove box and plugged the feed cable into the rear of the radio.
My 180GB ipod with solid state drive resides in the centre console.
this gives me access to a hell of a lot of music!! The only disadvantage is that I have only basic volume controls and mute on the steering wheel.
It’s definitely a Bose head unit and i’m presuming it’s the 6 CD changer unit as it’s printed on the front. To be honest I wouldn’t mind if it was only a single, but it won’t even let me put a disc in the slot so can’t tell.
Hi Ady Even with the radio playing press “LOAD” and the display should change from station name to “WAIT” After a few seconds the display changes to “IN” and also displays the available CD slots. This is when you should be able to insert a CD>. Hope that helps. Good luck. By the way it’s good to hear you are an MX5 owner again.
