Sorry if anybody’s posted this before ?? But I’ve searched the forum and can’t find info I need !
I’ve bought this 2006 mk3 2.0 auto in November 2022… so pretty new to them ! Any way she came with just one key no remote fob just a plastic little dongle which I think is an after market immobiliser??. Tried numus key company’s trying to find out what type of key fob i should have… don’t want to buy the wrong one… I’ve purchased the forscan for the laptop and have found that there is 4 keys programmed to the car… I’ve looked on fleabay for a new remote fob but it’s like I’m guessing which one I should buy ie 3 button 4 button Visteon type Siemens type…… any info or help would be much appreciated.
On a different note great site loved reading some of the post which have help me a great deal ie lamba sensor post cat found fixed and saved money thanks for that :pray::clap:

It’s an import then, all UK market MX-5 VINs start JMZ. The fact that it’s a 2006 auto should have given it away really thinking about it. It’s going to be a tricky one to know for sure I reckon. I wonder if the keyless entry receiver has a brand name on it, can’t remember off the top of my head where it’s located though. There is a danger that a UK type transmitter works of a different frequency to an JDM one. Whether you need a 3 button of 4 button remote will probably depend on if the car has an alarm or not, one of the buttons on the 4 button type is to turn off the interior protection.

Edit: Keyless receiver could be above the glove box but that’s for a UK manual transmission MX-5.

Hi again
Have looked behind the glove box only thing there is the air bag unit and a LVL module which I believe is for the lights ! And the heater unit ! … do you think it could be behind the steering wheel area ?.

Sorry, can’t help with that. You’ll have to search around. There is a chance that it wasn’t specked with keyless entry though.

Has it got little rubber buttons on the exterior door handles?
