- My model of MX-5 is: Mk 3.1_
- I’m based near: __Tunbridge Wells, Kent
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: _Floor Mats
My driver side is a funny shape that keeps slipping up towards the pedals. The passenger side looks nice and clean, doesn’t move. Neither are connected to the flloor with those little plastic hooks. Any thoughts please?
Does the driver’s side have a hole for the hook? If so, I’d get a hook and get it secured.

No both mats dont have hooks so assume after market additions and non Mazda
I’d treat myself to some nice new Mazda floor mats then.

OEM or from one of the many matt suppliers?
I only say that because one matt supplier doesnt mention a hole for the hooks. And that is where my problem today has come from.
I used these guys.
very good fit - full width heel pad - complete with fixings

Bought a set of mats from carmats4u. Unfortunately my mk3 2007 has fittings for a later model so when the mats arrived the fixings didn’t fit. Carmats4u sent a template in paper for me to check location of the floor hooks and some hook options. I must now send the mats back to get the holes made into the mats. Anyway this reinforces the point - getting mats with fixings is never quite straightforward as Mazda have different hook fixings within the MK3’s. Hopefully in a few weeks I should have new mats fitted…
The carpet hooks are available from Mx5parts. I had a set of mats from carmats4u then bought a set of rubber ones from Mx5parts to replace them. I ordered replacement hooks to replace those that held the carmats4u set.
Most mat fixings are either one central hole held by a bracket just under the driver’s seat or two hole affair held in by clips. These clip in through slits in the carpeting and just clip closed. The slits in the carpets should be present, well they were in my NC 3.75, not sure on NC1 models.
