BBR Stage 2 Turbo 2.0
64k Miles
Partial Service History

I have owned this car since October 2024. I purchased it for use at weekends/on track but subsequently was offered another car that required less work to get it track-ready, hence this one is now for sale. I had standard replacement/service elements done by my trusted MX5 mechanic, listed below, but stopped short of anything too radical for track, as such I would describe it as fast road ready/well serviced!

The car does not have a full service history but I have the first 8 services printed out from the Mazda digital service record to 2017. The previous owner, who carried out the turbo conversion also did all of the servicing himself apparently ( I bought from a dealer). I have had the following undertaken since I purchased :

Brake Fluid replaced with RBF660
New Front Brembo Brake Discs
New Front brake disc shields
New Brake slider pins/calipers checked, lubricated etc
Replaced front Drive Shaft
New front hubs (as everything around them was coming off!)
Bilstein suspension and lowering springs
All drop links replaced, front and rear.
New Braided Brake Lines all round
Gearbox Oil Replaced - Castrol Transmax 75w90
Differential Oil Replaced - Castrol Transmax 75w90
New Spark Plugs (NGK ILTR6A-13G)
Engine oil and filter swapped twice (October 24 and this month - May 25)
Coolant swapped (FL22 long life OEM fluid)
New Thermostat during coolant flush
Numerous hoses replaced as boost leak identified and resolved
Oil Sandwich plate replaced (leak identified)
Drivers door solenoid (well know issue/failure) replaced

It has had the sills injected for rust protected and checked underneath, including behind wheel arches etc and is solid, think I have a video somewhere.

Has had the windscreen cowl grommets done and cleaned out.
Roof wrapped in black
It is on 17 inch wheels with quality tyres and good amount of tread all rounnd

The BBR turbo conversion is well documented and you can get the details from the BBR site but in summary its listed as a 300BHP conversion and includes a Garret turbo, intercooler, manifold, new injectors, new airbox/filter plus everything else to make it work safely plus a remap by BBR (hoses/lines, valves etc). Stage 2 also includes an uprated clutch, complete exhaust system including super sport back box. The DIY kit without fitting is £7.5k.

The car is solid and although missing some service history it appears to have been looked after (that was my take when I bought it) and I have started the journey to get it back to tip top condition at a cost of 2k (bills to prove) until my focus changed.

This car has a lot of theatre - it burbles, pops, bangs and the exhaust definitely makes a statement, which for me and my neighbours, is a bit of a challenge - just being honest here if you are expected a standard car then this isn’t it. If I were to keep it I was going to change the back box for that reason and to ensure it met track noise limits. It is fast when needed and not subtle although it is easy to drive around town and on the motorway doesn’t drone despite the sports exhaust and if your foot is light the turbo doesn’t spool up so can be driven respectably when you want.

The interior has been replaced with re-upholstered seats and doors and is really tidy, everything works as it should mechanically/electrically.

Bad Points

There is a small amount of surface rust on one rear wing -in photos
The rest of the bodywork has some surfaces scratches (it is 15 years old).
Previous surface rust inside boot lid now treated but not colour code paint (in photos)
Wheels have some scuffs from kerb damage
There is some rust on the window frames (in photos)

As mentioned, I started down the road of making this car 100% again and was about to look to build for track but a cheaper alternative/less work option became available. I believe it is priced well and offers really good value for money.

The MOT is up in July - I will ensure there is a fresh MOT on the car when sold.

Car comes with 2 keys and has been garaged in my ownership over winter.

Realise the photos don’t match up to the description - wanted to get it on here tonight but will add more photos tomorrow!

Can be at the Spring Rally this weekend if needed, short notice I know!
