Hello I am a new member.
I am the owner of a 2015 MX-5 SE-L NAV Convertible.Acquired this car from someone I consider a friend. Although initially I worked for him. He gave me the car for services rendered. This was at the beginning of August 23. A lovely looking car which I have had recently serviced.Mileage ridiculously low at just over 5000 miles. Mechanic pointed out the underside when the car was up on the lift. Looks like it’s just rolled out of the factory. T he engine looks the same.
Driven it round my area of East Sussex looking for twisty, curvy roads. I’m not an expert with sports cars but I do realise what a good car it is. Handles very well but you do need to stir the gears to make good progress. Had the top down on sunny days which is nice.
I do maintenance miles on it , making sure the engine is properly warmed up normally after more than 20 miles.Obviously to protect from internal corrosion etc. Would be nice to keep it in a garage but I haven’t got one. Kept on my driveway and covered these last 2 years with a generic cover. This is a fun car and I understand why they’re cherished. My real passion is for motorcycles. Particularly sports bikes.
It’s a new experience for me owning a car when I’ve only ever had bikes from a teenager to now at 68 years.
Any advice on maintenance or what it might be worth would be much appreciated.
Don’t really want to sell it, but might have to.Stay safe.
You don’t need to baby it like it’s an old Triumph, it’ll take more abuse than any mechanically-sympathetic driver would deal out.
Maintenence. Just follow the service schedule. No need for Mazda to get involved unless you enjoy spending money
Value: Wrong time of year really. Sit on it until March.
In the region of £7,000
I’d say far more than £7K for a car with 5K miles. You don’t mention if it’s a 1.5 or 2L Sel-Nav, but if you go on Autotrader for ‘15 cars in that spec (Sel-Nav, 1.5Ls), you’ll see 50K milers for £11,400 and 55K miles for £12K, so imo a 5K miler, i.e 10X less miles than that would fetch far more than £7K. The above Autotrader current listings are from a garages (not main dealers), granted, but at £7K you’d be pretty much giving it away.
Agree £7K is a bit miserly, though probably not far off the base value for a well used 1.5 SE L 2015 - with that mileage it will be closer to £10K though the market is turning down now so better to keep it and enjoy it!
The OP wil go along to the local area meeting soon I am sure that the East Sussex and Downs mob will get him out for a spin and loving it soon!
