I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __
Hi all,
Hoping you will be able to help. A neighbor has a problem with the Sat Nav… It’s not working and unable to reset the clock. The radio and phone both work okay. The dealer at Mazda has said it needs a £500 SD card from Japan… is this true? If not what should they do.
Assuming that they have an AVN2 (which would have been fitted as standard in a 2015 with SatNav) - and which is a rebadged Alpine - the only cost-effective solution is to replace the head unit.
£500 (or a lot less) will easily pay for a new modern head unit with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay included.
Buy a new SD card and try Formatting it in the CAR first.
This will hopefully sync the card to the head unit and then go online and transfer the maps.
It worked with my 2013 with the TomTom (Sanyo) system.
May not of course, but as above £500 for an SD card is just taking the Michael!
Ultimately, I did change mine in the end to a Kenwood one with Apple Car Play etc.
Good luck.
I paid £52.99 to satnavworld.com inc’ postage, for a new SD card complete with nav upgrade. It works a treat in my 2017 ND and had it since March 2024.
