2016 MX-5 1.5 - Noisy suspension - bush failure? (video included)

Hi everyone,

My MX-5 1.5 2016 Icon, which I’ve owned for a couple of months now, is mostly great but just concerned about a clunk coming from the suspension, which can be heard in the following video. I took it for CarPlay upgrade at the dealer (Pentagon Lincoln) and they said one of the bushings had gone and would need a new hub for passenger side. I know there’s an aftermarket part available that is a lot cheaper than OEM though so will fit that if it will fix the issue

Car is under warranty (RAC); I bought it from a main dealer (not Mazda, but part of a larger group who own Mazda dealers) so could ask, but I’d imagine they’d see it as a wear item and wouldn’t pay for any repair perhaps, but correct me if i’m wrong. I’m in Lincoln and I bought the car from Coventry so would be a bit of a drive to get it done at the garage I got it from sadly.

If I get it done myself, anyone know of any good garages around Lincoln to fix it, or is it something I could DIY potentially - I’ve done a few jobs like changing washer pumps and spark plugs, but would this be outside my ability?

Replacing the 2 spherical bearings (not bushes) per side are easily replaced at home, I did mine last year. New bearings are available from Andy Leslie.

I turned the TV off and put my computer on full pelt and i can’t hear a thing?

Possibly drop links atrached to anti-roll bar ends, probably at front as they tend to fail first.

The sound is definitely coming from behind me so I don’t think it’s from the front

I’ve extracted the sound for you

Cheers. Yes, someone uploaded a while back (when I was browsing, not a forum member) a video of him driving his 1.5 ND regarding the bush knock sound, and it sounded just like that

Check the rear drop links.
