- My model of MX-5 is: __2016 1.5 ND
- I’m based near: __Wakefield
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __Changing the cabin filter
It looks a bit of a mare, with a lot of trim to remove. Any easier way ?
Sorry, but I’m new to the forum. I hope it makes sense.
Thanks in advance
Ian
There is no paper filter just a fine steel mesh. It’s easierto put a filter over the intake that is below the plastic panel on the passenger side. I used some 10mm air filter foam and plastic mesh from ebay
As far as I am aware there is no ‘cabin filter’ on the ND. Could I enquire as to where the instructions for changing it are please.
As standard yes, it seems that people have invented ‘solutions’
There is what Mazda refer to as a “dust filter” fitted as standard. Probably more of a leaf filter really.
Thank you all for your help with this. It was a video on YouTube l stumbled across. It was American, l grant you. But he took various trims from the passenger side to reveal a small square filter behind a little access door that that is hidden away behind various harness connectors. I thought it maybe a cabin filter on mine, as when you put the heater blower on. It’s got a vague smell occurring. My other car did this too. So l figured, it was either me, or the cabin filter. It turned out to be the cabin filter I’m pleased to say. So l changed it. Which cured it. But unsure with the MX5 now then.
If you have a smell it might be worth trying this:
Also you can remove the panel below the window on the passenger side and vacuum any debris out and do what I did in my post above.
Thank you for this. I will give these things a try when I’m slightly less busy. I appreciate all the help mate.
I followed the Flyin Miata YouTube video step by step and honestly while it looks torturous,it was quite easy to do. The trim comes off quite easily and the filter wasn’t too difficult either.
The steps to get to the big hole under the wiper scuttle units is even easier
Just fitted Jass filter, pretty expensive for what isatat £67. Disappointingly it discards the original plastic casing as the Jass filter just slids on, not the tighest fit,
but it will stop mighty mouse from getting in.
That’s the video I followed
Agreed, the Amazon one looks like a better deal.
