so new rear box? what's a pre-silencer?
I’m taking that to mean new rear box plus the piping under the car leading to the rear box - the pre-silencer is a “mini-box” usually located underneath the middle of the car, about half way from the start of the exhaust piping to the rear box…
Will be keen to get details on this from my dealer in due time: who manufactures this, any performance benefits, what does it sound like, etc!
If you google Mazda European Portal and register there you will get access the Mazda parts diagrams with parts numbers.
There is a cat at the exhaust manifold and a large main back box under the boot.
The middle pipe has a second cat at the front and a small silencer type box towards the back.
There looks fron the diagram maybe to be a joint in the middle but maybe not.
In that case you would cut through the middle pipe and replace the small silencer with the one you mention.

You have to remove the undercover to change the oil and filter but the oil filter is easier to get too.
Looks like the exhaust manifold and front cat are one unit.

As one first poster to another, I too was interested in the Brembo pack - with no success thus far.
My reasoning was not the brakes nor the look of the BBS wheels but the fact they’re forged, lightweight BBS wheels
…Some say 1kg of unsprung mass is equivalent to 10kg off the (sprung) body weight
I’m not qualified to argue for or against but find weight reduction appealing
Also, anyone been offered Recaro seat option (special equipment elsewhere) and apparently in every Belgian car I’ve seen on Youtube
They have Alcantara inserts to match gearshift boot etc AND carry the Bose speakers in the headrest
I love the look of the Recaros, it is such a shame that we do not even get a chance, Germany has a much smaller market share, so does Belgium, and it seems they get an option we do not.
It does seem odd. Might possibly be LH drive-specific I guess?
Think I read somewhere that answering the phone whilst driving relays the call to driver’s seat speaker only
The MX5 seats feature on the Recaro website as ‘special equipment’ - but it’s not transactional unfortunately
I spoke to my local dealer about the Recaros and was assured that they will be an option in the UK at some stage, but not in the near future (i.e. not this year).
Apparently due to a shortage the new ND recaros in general - seems that pre-ordered NDs on the continent who had selected the recaro option are in most cases not being delivered till 2016 - ouch !
best not to buy a car in its first year of production anyway
waiting will hopefully bring more options and more colours
