2016 UK spec and options

Hi new to forum and first post.

As with all of you I imagine you have read and watched all info as it’s become available. Been watching some of the U.S. You tube reviews. They show the 2L with optional BBS wheel and Brembo brake option , also with subtle lip spoilers.

now looking on the UK Mazda site, I can’t see this for our cars , is this right we are missing out on these options or have I read it wrong ?

chears Ian

Welcome to the forum Crown.

Different options different markets.

The states has no 1.5 but automatic transmission available on the 2.0. No automatic in the UK but look on the parts list and they specify parts for automatic cars in the UK.

Thanks.

Yes different markets do confuse things.

think an auto would just spoil the car but I know in the US many can only drive autos.

here in the UK I’d just like the BBS Brembo option on a UK car .

So if anyone knows more on this …

Aero kit is available
full brochure https://www.mazda.co.uk/request-a-brochure/?gclid=Cj0KEQjw35-vBRD3qKz8hPezlIIBEiQAOeKNru0g0YlxqZQ9PI9sr4Mk2UjfNXa7zBcVKnayBnaTwCIaAsPr8P8HAQ

No-one would force anyone to drive the auto. Some people prefer them, in the same way they prefer hard-tops - the purists will disagree -so what?

The UK should have the choice of both engines and gearboxes (like they do in Australia), certainly if ordering the car for a factory-build, not from showroom.

Given that over 1000 mk 3.5 powershifts were sold, I can’t understand why Mazda would want to turn down another £20 million.

It’s a $3400 option I think.

Would be cheaper to fit aftermarket brake kit from the likes of Goodwin or Flying Miata.

I if anyone is ordering a small roadster why on earth would you order an automatic, unless your health dictates it then I can’t see any reason to.

You’d have to be a  moron to order an automatic , changing through the gears and controlling the revs is a massive part of the fun.

Braking and dropping to 2nd then hearing the engine rev and feel the back wheels spin as you control it all, need I say more.

I’m sure people will tell me I’m wrong and I’m sure in many aspects I am, this is just my opinion not fact, I love manual and always will, it’s part of the car and part of the cars feeling as you control it and make it do what you want.

Thank you for calling me (and others who like auto sports cars) a moron.

I hate clutches - I would of course use the paddles when appropriate.

I am quite capable of controlling complex machinery (I can fly a plane for example) - but I don’t like pressing clutches in heavy traffic. I live in a crowded part of the UK.

A new generation auto box with a lock up clutch is very efficient as well as convenient - The GT86 has one.

I don’t like white or orange colour cars for example. No-one would force you to have an auto - but apparently anyone who doesn’t share your tastes is a moron.

Whoops, now that was not very kind was it?

The best the about the MX-5 is the individuality of the owners and their cars, diversity rules, auto’s should not be persecuted!

■■■ sort of reply is that, I didn’t expect to read that sort of  ‘advice’ on here

Sorry everyone, I was having an argument with someone and my frustration came out on here.

i would not have an automatic but everyone is entitled to there opinion and choice.

Sorry if I offended anyone, was typing whilst in a very bad mood.

of course I don’t think anyone is a moron, I had a cloudy head and vented in the wrong place.

I was hoping for a bit of banter between autos and manuals, the way I worded it was completely wrong which created offence , sorry again people

the PDK v Manual debates on Porsche forums are much more heated

That’s what I was going for but I worded it wrong and cocked it up.

That will teach me to open my gob.

Hi and Welcome to the FUN

Lol it’s lively for my first post

mind still don’t know why Mazda UK haven’t offered  what they have to the U.S. market re the BBS Brembo options… Makes a cracking car even better.

Probably because it is a very expensive option which would most likely turn out to be not sell well here, (or in North America)
It’s $3400 which would probably be more than £2500 here.

The Brembo brakes offered as an option are front only. Flyinmiata are offering aftermarket brake kit for fronts at $494

Yep good point, guess the Brembos arnt really needed as there is no real weight there to stop. Do love the BBS wheels though and the aero kit

for me, the US BBS wheels are way too fussy for the ND’s clean design

Saw this on miata.net and thought I would post the link here as well:

Accessories for the new MX5 now starting to go up on the Mazda UK website.

No US spec brembo/BBS package, but I wasn’t a fan of those either. You can get the body kit bits though, as well as a sports exhaust which I would love to know more about!
