2024 RF reversing camera

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __ RF ND3 2024
  2. I’m based near: __ Manchester
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __ Reversing camera

I bought the reversing camera for my new (2024 ND3) RF, but I’ve just received a call from the guy who is fitting it, advising that the connector isn’t the same as the one in my last car, (2019 ND2 RF).

I did try phoning MX-5 Parts, but they couldn’t help, as it’s to new and they don’t have any information yet.

Do any of you wonderful people know if there is an adapter cable, or do I just have to wait for a new model camera to be released?

Thanks in advance,

John.

Does it plug into the back of the CMU? If so, then I’d not be too surprised to hear that it won’t fit. As you’re no doubt aware, the 2024 ND has gone from an MZD Connect system to a Mazda Connect system. You’ll probably have to wait for a proper harness to be available specifically for the 2024 MX-5. Did you get the camera from MX5parts?

Edit… I don’t think that I’ve actually answered your question have I?

I did buy it from MX-5 Parts, and I’ll be honest and say I didn’t even look at it. I just bought it and gave it to the guys in the auto department at work, to fit it. It’s the same camera I bought for my 2019 model and that worked out of the box.

I’m guessing that I’ll have to wait for a 2024 specific harness to appear. I’m also guessing that MX-5 Parts should update their website to reflect this change.

Oh, thanks for the reply and yes, I think you did answer the question. :slightly_smiling_face:

Update… I have just looked on the MX-5 Parts website, and they have added the following text to the camera page: “Fits all Mk4 models 2015>2024 including the RF. Please note this will NOT fit the 2024 NE facelift as the navigation system is different.”

Do we think that they will release some sort of wiring harness adapter, or should I just cut my losses and return the camera?

Another update. I spoke to MX-5 Parts, yesterday, and they said that if I return it, and it hasn’t been used, they will issue a refund.

Ok, let’s summarise. I bought an item which was advertised as suitable for my car. It arrived and it turns out it’s not suitable. I phoned them for information, but they didn’t have any. Shortly after this conversation, their website was updated to say it’s not suitable for my car. I now have to pay to send it back, for a refund. I will enclosed a letter, asking them to refund the postage, as none of this is my fault. I’ll let you know how I get on, but I’m not especially happy at the moment.
