25th Anniversary Edition paint

Is the 25th Anniversary Edition colour - Soul Red code Mazda 41V please??

What’s the roof colour too please? Some kind of black I suspect!!!

Some wise folks say that we should use Mercedes Blue/Black 199/9199 for the alloys. Is that a good match for touching up scrapes? Is the modelling paint Tamiya Gunmetal X-10 a better match colour wise please?

“Asking on behalf of a friend!!!”

Body is Soul Red (41V). Be aware that there is a different colour, also called Soul Red (46V), which is used on the later NDs.

The roof, etc are Brilliant Black (A3F).

Mazda 0000-92-GMW (which doesn’t seem to be available in the UK), Mercedes 199/9199 (which is a Blue/Black, and gets mixed reviews as to how close it is), Toyota 1G3 Magnetic Grey and Revell Matt 9 have all been mentioned in discussions on wheel colour, but nobody has ever come up with a perfect answer, other than using a paint shop who can mix colours to match.

Soul Red (and Soul Red Crystal) are normal top coat clear lacquer over a red-tinted lacquer over silver, what the Americans would call a candy apple finish. They are exceptionally hard to touch up invisibly so, if you only have stone chips, it will be less obstrusive to fill them with a dark red wax crayon.

For touch up get this 9ml Genuine Mazda Touch Up Paint, MX5 Mk4 (mx5parts.co.uk)

I have found that it’s possible to touch up the soul red stone chips reasonably well without the final clear ,clear coat as long as the base (which is a dusky silvery pink) and red clear coat dye are used.

Photo below shows the base coat coat colour when I sprayed my mud flaps

But they will be a bit dark v the final colour. I do question if it’s worth the effort and material cost v paying someone to do it professionally

Is that Soul Red or Soul Red Crystal? Just wondering if they changed the basecoat colour. Soul Red Crystal is more purple, Soul Red is more orange.

Soul Red

Soul red crystal 46v.

Not using OEM paints they are PPG repair materials. I asked for the red clear to be made more concentrated as I found it required too many passes and started to run when I first sprayed it

Colour match is fine (apologies for the car is a bit dirty in the picture)
