Halfrauds have 3 for 2 on Autoglym at the mo. I added to the collection today! The big Shampoo is £15, so worth getting 3.
I gave my car a good going over today using:
Shampoo, Super Resin Polish, Vinyl/Rubber Cleaner, Metal Polish, Clean Wheels, Fast Glass and Elbow Grease. Car looks lovely and well worth the 3hrs spent, despite what the mrs reckons!
I bought the Autoglym Aqua Polish (I think that’s what it’s called), that you can polish on when wet. I stuck this in the boot so next time I mid-week jet wash at the local BP I can give the paintwork a bit of a buff up, anybody used this?
Coincidentally I bought some of this last time they had a 3 for 2, but only used it this week
It is a reasonable product, certainly OK to make the third item, but I am not sure I’d buy it at full price
It does as it says on the box - you can put it on a car that is not dry, but you still need to get the bulk of the water off
Application is easy, just spray and wipe with the first (included) microfibre cloth Removal is not so easy - you need to use quite a lot of pressure to get it off, which with the MX5s large bonnet, and light boot is not terribly pleasant - I can see some people ending up with nasty dents/‘defects’ as a result, however, there is no need to give it an additional ‘buff’ once it is off, as there is with a lot of polishes.
The overall finish is reasonable - it has a pretty good shine, and was without a doubt better than when I started, however, it was unable to cover up the light scratches that a ‘normal’ polish would use, did not remove any tar build up that a normal polish would, nor did it remove the overspray from when I proofed my roof the week before.
So in the end, I had to do patches of the car with ‘proper’ polish, so it was probably not any faster in my case.
As a winter polish, when you cannot get a day that is light enough/dry enough (for long enough?) to do it properly, it is a good solution, but if it is just to give you a bit more TV time - then it is not worth the hassle.
Compared to ‘Ultra Deep Shine’ (which I normally use) Application - Easier (10/10) Removal - Harder (6/10) Finish - Slightly poorer (and no doubt won’t last as long) (8/10)
They’ve got Turtlewax ICE Clay Bar on the offer too. Clay Bar seems to be a great way to renovate paintwork… I’ve got some car wash swirling - would this be a good product to get rid of that? (Also the tops of the wing mirrors seemed to have streaks of oxidisation too… which is best - clay bar or t-cut?)
