Nice car.
Hopefully they will release it with options of different roof and interior colours.
Those carpets will be awful to keep clean, even if a summer only car…

Hideous. Artisen red an even more ‘maroon’ colour than SRC. Looks like an old man’s MX-5 combo.
Was the 30th anniversary edition (you know, that awesome orange one) a sales failure? As it seems the risk averse approach to ‘special editions’ in back again.
Very disappointing. Very boring.

I read about this the other day on Reddit - a poster had claimed a dealer told them the 35AE was coming and in Artisan Red.

I’m more interested in whether the Spirit Racing version will make it to the UK.

Agreed! I don’t really get the light leather and roof thing at all. A year or two ago they did a special model (something like kizuna?) which was light and light so thought they may have gone a different route. I know people ask big money for 30th annivseraries now but I know when they were new dealers offered big discounts to get them moved. In a way I’m pleased I think the new one isn’t anything to write home about as if it was something special (bright colour aero kit recaros etc etc) I had already tried convincing myself to go back to nd so will happily keep the nc and put the money to a better daily I reckon :+1:

I kinda like it but I’m a sucker for tan interiors. If the roof matches the interior then I could make peace with it. It would need to be garaged however to keep the green stuff at bay.

I could well look into one of these whenever my ND1 starts to get on.

I honestly don’t see what is special about this at all and why you should buy it over a top trim car…I am an owner of a ND RF Launch Edition and 30th Anniversary Edition, I just don’t see the pull for this :man_shrugging:

I bought my RF Launch Edition at the time the 30th was released in 2019 and could see myself moving up to one in the future (surprisingly enough I did just that!) as it had everything that made the RF Launch Edition special plus more:

RF Launch Edition

  • Machine Grey/Soul Red Exterior
  • Recaro Seats & Alcantara Interior
  • 2L ND1 Engine with LSD
  • BBS Alloys
  • Standard Brakes
  • Bilstein Suspension
  • Numbered Interior Badge, 1 of 500 in the UK
  • Standard Key

30th Anniversary Edition

  • Racing Orange Exterior & Interior Accents
  • Recaro Seats & Alcantara Interior
  • 2L ND2 Engine with LSD
  • Rays Alloys
  • Brembo/Nissin Brakes
  • Bilstein Suspension
  • Numbered Exterior Badge, 1 of 3000 worldwide
  • Standard Key

All of the above made both my RF Launch Edition and the 30th Anniversary Edition very appealing. As well as the 30AE being a great progression from the RFLE, maintaining the Recaros etc. while getting the more powerful engine and uprated brakes as standard.

Certain aspects (until this model year) were unique to a very limited number of cars, namely the Recaro seats, and the overall package worked well for both editions.
However, with the changes made in this model year to options and the top trim level Mazda didn’t leave themselves much to make the 35th Anniversary Edition Special.

Homura

  • Standard Colours
  • Recaro Seats & Alcantara Interior
  • 2L ND3 Engine with LSD
  • BBS Alloys
  • Brembo Brakes
  • Bilstein Suspension
  • No numbering
  • Standard Key

From what I can see in a translation of the linked article I am even more worried:

Shigeki Saito, Chief of Product Development Division, commented, “We don’t have a limited quantity because we want to deliver to everyone who wants it. We want those who don’t have a Roadster yet, and those who already have one, to switch over.”

That implies, although they are numbering them, they won’t even make it limited except by personal taste as that combination isn’t my cup of tea. And in terms of the “specialness”, this is what you get:

35th Anniversary Edition

  • Artisan Red Exterior & Interior Accents
  • Standard Seats with 35th Anniversary in the Headrest & Tan Interior
  • 2L ND3 Engine with LSD
  • Mazda Alloys
  • Standard Brakes
  • Bilstein Suspension
  • Numbered Exterior Badge, 1 of ???
  • Artisan Red Key

That list doesn’t pull me towards it at all and I would be more interested in either a Homura or a 35th with the full interior and roof replaced by one from a (10 year old) Recaro Edition!

I would say the 100th Anniversary Edition is more special because of the colourway, limited nature and 100th Anniversary badging than this is.

But that is just my opinion I guess, thank you for sticking with me if you got this far :joy:

Artisan Red (and Melting Copper) are new colours for the CX-80.

Why the random picture?

Very comprehensive! I do like the colour, but i think i will stick with my '21 RF GT in Deep Crystal Blue for now.

Work out it.

Just watching the stream and noticed they did confirm the MSR model will be produced. It was supposed to be revealed with the 35AE but wasn’t ready in time according to the interviews.

Sorry, no idea. At first I thought it was to do with the colour but it is completely different.

The sad thing is that the hope was a 35th something like this

Which would have seen me crawling over broken glass to part with my money

Instead, what materialised is almost the definition of the baby boomer edition.

Fair play to them though, the ‘special’ edition philosophy they seem to adopt these days is the best way of me gaining interest on my savings lol

3 posts were split to a new topic: Airbag recall?

Agree, the car is fairly boggo spec to me, nothing exciting, I would of liked a yellow option too like sunburst yellow, would of looked good then next to the 30thAE.

On a personal note though it should help hold up the residuals of my 30thAE so not all bad!!!
