4-2 -1 Manifold Purchased

Hi all, I have just purchased a secondhand TRUST 4-2-1 Manifold for my 1.6 Mk1.

It has JASMA 93E016 B6 on a plate; i gather this is to enable to be sold in japan (a kind of licence).

I think these are manufactured by GReddy ; Is this correct , are they any good, say compared to a Mazdaspeed (maximworks) item ?

Would appreciate some helpful advice, Thanks

Hi , I just bought a 4/2/1 it’s an R*sr , with a metal Plate. I’d not heard about the jasma thing , hope someone clarifies !

Dave

JASMA is a Japanese Exhaust Manufacturer’s Association; the plate denotes it is road legal for Japan. RS^R is a fairly well known exhaust maker. Greddy/Trust is a middle ranking parts maker, equivalent to HKS.

Thanks for the useful advice saz9961. As my Greddy/Trust is a middle ranking manifold , do you think would be much gain or advantage over a standard 1.6 manifold ?

No idea; even the very best manifolds hold only a fairly benefit over the standard, and most of the benefit (increased torque) is at the upper rev range. The downsides of these manifolds is if they are badly designed (not likely with Greddy), drivability can be worse, and in general, for most, there is increased NVH.

Thanks Saz, Forgive my ignorance… What is NVH , Something to do with noise and vibration ?

Noise Vibration Harshness. The standard manifold is braced to the bellhousing. Most aftermarket manifolds are not, and so when you step off the gas, you often get a buzz. Most of the Japanese manifolds seem to try and mitigate this by including flexible Goodrich tubing in the design.
