92 MK1 horn problems - help?

  1. My model of MX-5 is: 1992 mk1 SE UK
  2. I’m based near: Basingstoke
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Horn

Just collected the car and the horn didn’t appear to be working. If you push the horn button long enough, some asmatic air horns make a feeble wheeze for a few seconds, so it appears the wiring is ok.

I thought I could simply remove the air horns out of the wiring and connect back the original horn that is still present (right hand side of the bonnet latch)
When trying to trace the wiring, I notice that the original green/red? wire from the original horn is still there and runs to the left of the car (drivers side) but has a spade connector on it which then connects into a mess of wires around the air horn compressor.

Does this suggest that the original horn should still work? Coming on before the air horns?
If I pull the spade connector, nothing happens at all, not even the wheezy air horn

Any idea how to test if the original horn still works and how to bypass the air horns?

Able to spend some more time on it today and solved the issue (sort of)

All the wiring diagrams showed the horn wiring running down the right side of the engine bay, the air horns were running down the left which was confusing me. Figured out that the air horns were just the power, they had then connected the horn feed to via the original connector for the left hand horn and removed it. The remaining original horn was connected, so I removed and tested it and found it to be knackered.

I temporarily robbed a horn off my sons Impreza and got a working horn again, I disconnected the air horns until I have time to remove the front bumper and take the whole lot out.
