I bought my Mk 3.5 Mx5 Roadster in July last year, and I have to say its the most fun sports car I’ve ever owned - and I’ve had some in my 58 years of motoring - including Triumphs, Rileys, Morgans, and Porsches. It may be a bit unusual to carry a disabled badge and a wheelchair in the boot on an Mx5, but it fits our lifestyle perfectly, and my wife (the owner of the badge and the chair) also loves driving it when she’s able.
She (the car, not the wife,) still needs new bushes as it clonks a bit over bumps, a replacement radio/multimedia unit, and some anti- rust treatment underneath - but I plan to keep it, God willing, into my ‘80s. By which time it may be worth more than I paid for it…!
Welcome aboard. Enjoy.

I qualify for a Disabled Badge but have been a bit too ‘Cream Crackered’ yet to apply for it ![]()

Fabulous, aren’t they? Don’t you wish you had tried one, sooner?
Looks good, welcome aboard.

I bought my 2011 Mk3.5 MX5 NC 2.0 litre Sport-tech with PRHT roof in the summer of 2018 when I was 71. At the time I owned a classic MGB Roadster, which I had cherished for a few years. A friend of mine let me have a drive of his NC. I was immediately sold on the idea of owning one. 8 sold the MGB for more than I paid for the NC. Win all way round. Every time I get in the car, it makes me so happy. She’s still only just clocked up 15,000 miles, so I think I’ll keep it until I can no longer drive.
Hello Everyone,
Well where do I start, The MX5 what a wonderfull Car, the ultimate two seat Roadster for everyday use.
After 44 years of driving MGBs a friend of mine brought his MX5 NB 1.6 around for a test drive- I was smitten and wondered how I hadn’t known about the MX5 beforehand.
The reliabilty, looks, handling, performance and drivabilty totally won me over.
On retirement in 2018 I set about finding one and bought a 1999 NB 1.8S from ebay after much research. The pleasure of owning , driving and getting the car up to my standards has been a complete pleasure.
My Wife and I have been all over the country in it and it has been a wonderfull experience.
Deciding to part with my beloved B proved difficult but in 2021 after 30 years of ownership and 2 rebuilds I sold it.
On the basis of the benefits and improvements in reliabilty and performance of an MX5!
Enjoy whilst you can and wallow in the fact that you have got the best two seat roadster money can buy, with all the mod cons that British Leyland couldn’t deliver through the time and place of the 1960s 70s & 80s - don’t look back in Anger!!
Best Regards
Nic
