I am currently overhauling the suspension on my 2003 MK2.5. The shocks I have removed appear to be the original Bilstein that are starting to look very tired and rusted after 70k miles. I’m thinking of replacing the old Bilstien with a Gaz Gold Pro setup as rebuilding a full set of Bilstien seems expensive.
On the Bilstein there is a bracket on the lower quarter of the shock that the ABS cable bolts to, but I can find no reference or examples anywhere how this is attached to the Gaz. This only applies to the fronts as at the rear the ABS cable routes directly to the back of the hub.
How have folks that have fitted Gaz Gold Pro to NBFL dealt with the missing bracket please? MX5 Parts have suggested using cable ties or similar, but I am curious what other solutions people have used.
Thank you useful to know the Meisters have a bracket, but what I am really interested in is how people that have fitted Gaz Pro have dealt with the ABS cable fixing on the lower quarter of the shock.
The bracket is detachable. Meister might sell it as a spare. They might sell you some. Maybe someone here has a pair going free. I can’t see why it couldn’t fit the GAZ shock, with a little modification, or a bracket fabricated using a pipe clamp. The obvious is to ask Gaz.
On the Pros, there is a big chunk of thread at the bottom that will never be used, plus a smooth bit. Just fit a stainless steel jubilee clamp, clamping a small flat U-bracket, drilled to accept the sensor bolt. Second clamp to stop it slipping down.
