Adaptive headlights demo

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __MY23
  2. I’m based near: __High Wycombe
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __FYI

For anyone wondering what the adaptive headlights look like when driving at night, here’s some dashcam footage https://youtu.be/tUqMDc9cDms

They basically go on main beam when there are no street lights and avoid blinding oncoming or followed cars by removing a ‘channel’ of light just where just those cars are. They work well enough that I don’t get flashed by oncoming drivers, for example. There also seems to be extra light at the side when going round a corner.

Tranforms nightime driving for me

They’re pretty cool eh. I always worry that they won’t dip quick enough when other traffic is coming towards you, but they seem to work fairly well

I agree it’s great under most circumstances. Is there a lower speed limit too - seems not to be active at lower speed.

My wife has those on her Renault and i hate using them. I want to be in control of what happens in my car and not have the car doing it for me. I really think that there’s far to much automation on cars these days and it’s making people lazy… And breeeath. Climbs down from soap box.

That’s the foglight coming on when you turn the steering.

The ND hasn’t got front fog lights.

I know what you mean but, for me, it genuinely improves the dring experience at night.

Just ignore me, I’m an old fart!!

Anything that’s stops me being blinded by LED’s is good. Unfortunately most cars don’t have their lights at an MX level.
Trick, but about a grand for a replacement….

It’s things like that that increase the likelihood of a car being written off with relatively ‘minor’ damage

I’m in west Cornwall. Enjoying a drive down here is often though tight blind bends. Bramble Rash on the Near Side is a given😀 But the likelihood of a minor shunt is, well, highly likely. Something I can afford to write off or fix without insurance is much easier with my NC1 than an ND.
I can afford the latter but it just doesn’t seem logical. For all the pull of the aesthetics of the ND and I’m enjoying playing with my car looks fiddling with suspension heights; in the end it all about what it feels like driving…
