Adding seat ventilation/cooling

  1. My model of MX-5 is: NC 2010
  2. I’m based near: Vera (South Spain)__
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Hi, just wondering…if you would retrim your seats (or even if not…) is it possible to ad a “ventilated” seat option ? And if yes, could u use the switches/ cables of the heated seats? It’s for an 2010 NC.

I’m super interested in doing this too. I would love to pipe the heated or air conditioned air into the seats but that’s probably a bit much.
My Mom’s Merc SLC has an electric heated neck warmer (air scarf I think they call it?) that blows hot air there when the car is still cold or the roof’s down which is pretty cool.

If you can buy this module and some vented seats it would be super cool (hah).

I’m going to add a load of rocker switches to my car sometime soon so I’ll be heavily considering this. The leather seats really make you feel hot even when the front of you is too cold so having fans to pull AC air backwards should be very helpful.

  • Not much info to find on this…Seat surgeons in UK don’t do/sell them but there’s a US based company who sells some kits (leatherseats.com) i send them a mail and they replied this; they have suitable kits (not MX-5 specific)costing 375 usd per seat. Cooling only is not an option, its always heated/vented. OEM seat heating has to be removed (makes sense…) . Perforated leather or cloth is required (again, makes sense…). 375 usd is not cheap but …still acceptable especialy if you have no heated seats.
  • Name of the set is Sanctum seat ventilation. The airconditioned (piped) seats seems to excist but i have no info about this as i believe it will be an even more complicated install.
