Does anybody know if a mx5 mk1 will drive up ok without catching the front sill. I am ware that lead on ramps can be bought but will be easier if not needed.
also do you know if they can be used at any height or are they either up or down.
can anybody recommend them as they have used them?
Yes they easily accommodate a Mk1 without need for lead on ramps and in fact my own Mk1 sits a bit lower on adj. coilovers and still clears the bottom easily. Superb ramps - I bought a set about 18 months ago . They can be used in multiple positions although I find approx. 75% extension gives plenty of room underneath. Have attached picture…
They may do what you need at a fraction of the cost. You would of course need some lead on’s to get the MX5 on, but I believe cj autos also sell theses ramps at more than double the price being offered on ebay. http://www.cjautos.eu/product_p/cr05.htm
I eventually decided on a set of normal ramps, a good quality jack, and good axle stands. They do everything I need, and for the cost of an extra set of axle stands I can get all four wheels off at the same time, and have the car very high all round.
thanks for the help guys. That is useful. The consensus appears to be that they are good although expensive. I have seen the hydraulic ones as well but they are even more expensive.
Impressive picture boxerdog. What did you coat the wishbones etc in. Is it por15?
i’m off work for a week now and want to do some work on my car and made my mind up to get the cj auto ramps. However I’ve just looked on their website and they are closed for a week!!
Personally, if I wanted adjustable ramps I’d chose the hydraulic ramps from ebay at less than half the price. I think they’re a better ramp at any price. Problem is, they’re shipped in from Germany so probably wouldn’t get here any quicker than waiting a week for c j auto’s. That being said, I don’t think you can beat a good jack and axle stands and you can do that at a fraction of the cost of cj’s ramps.
