Newbie here! I’ve just reserved a 2.0 100th anniv ,21 car which is at a good price. But it doesn’t seem to have any service history and is high mileage 30500 miles. One owner from new so perhaps a lease car or hire car? It looks great in the pictures, but I am nervous about the lack of servicing. The mot in march passed but advisories on rear tyre wear and front disc pitted, so i am pricing in new tyres and a full service, perhaps £1k? Driving 200 miles to test drive it on Monday, so any advice on what to look for, what questions to ask etc would be greatfully accepted!
Phone your local Mazda dealer, give them the car’s registration, and ask for details of the digital service record.
I personally wouldn’t touch such a new car that had no service history, I would find another one.
Fair play, you’re braver than me traveling that distance to heck out a used car. I’m so used to pre reg cars with negligible miles, that I@ve been spoilt so when I see car ‘looked after’ by someone else I’m usually crestfallen.
Today, for eg, I went to look at a 1,600 mile '73 plate Fiesta ST. Only about 12 miles away (not 200!). Turned up, mass curbing on the near side rear wheel, curbing on the front near side wheel, a dent/ding on the A pillar and (albeit micro) small scrape on the front. This recall is a '73 plate 1,600 mile car. I wonder if ‘our demonstrator’ cars are just used by some clown as ‘their car’ and basically don’t give two hoots about it,
There is no service book (certainly on my 22 plate) it’s all electronic, surely got to be worth a phone call to a dealers
Why do you think it has no service history?
Thanks for the advice! I will try the local mazda dealership, see if they can give me some information on the service history. Failing that, I think I will walk away and find another ND!
Just to clarify, no ND2 has a service book.
All service records are held online by Mazda. Individual owners “may” have downloaded their cars pages as a back up, I know I have, kept with the invoices.
If it has MOT there should be three annual services recorded, whatever mileage.
PS 30,500 at three years is used properly!
