I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: fixings for side skirt.
The passenger side skirt has come loose, and on inspection a couple of the underside box like clips are loose, but about 3 missing?? Can anyone help identify the type of side skirt, if oem or aftermarket, and wherever I might find fixings, please. Photo attached of loose car side skirt.
Cheers, Kevin.
You’ll need to remove the whole side sill/skirt to get at and replace the clips.
See diagram/photos below, 5 bottom clips hold the skirt under there and 10 top clips/push clips hold the top section.
The bottom ones (5) you slide the sill on to those, so slide off towards the rear of the car having undone the front clip at the wheel arch and the rear clip again at the rear wheel arch first. You’ll need to prise away the 10 top clips on the skirt from the body, much like those holding a door card on.
Link below to new clips, I’d just buy a set as the are reasonable priced, 10 clips top +5 clips bottom.
Many thanks, that’s a quick reply. The photo helps greatly, and the removed sill shows the bottom square inserts, which I need, as I guess they slide over the clips. If you know where to get those, I’d be greatful.
Link to clips in that post above. The bottom 5 clips push in to the body (round holes) then slide the sill on to the square ish pegs from the rear to front if i remember correctly. An able bodied assistant is most likely required to support the sill as you push it on the pegs, two pair of hands needed I remember so well, done them twice now.
Hi Mick, if you look at the black part (underside) of sill picture on the floor you sent, those square insert parts which your clip B attaches to, are the ones I am looking for. 5 in all. These 5 square inserts with slot in attach to clip B and drop out of long sill piece. Its those I need, but I’ll get A snd C also.
Just be aware that the front one of those clips is a different size (well it was on all 3 of my NCs), smaller than all the rear ones as is not available from Vehicleclips, so be careful removing it.
Although I bought a set of the clips that fit along the bottom I didn’t need any of them, just reused the originals. But all the other horizontal clips broke every time.
When refitting the skirt I found it easier to fit the big round clips to the bottom of the sill first, then pressing into the body, much easier of you’re working on your own.
