Agreed value insurance

My parents are buying a 94 J-LIMITED from MX5 City and have asked the insurance company who they are with if they do agreed value, they said no problems as long as you give us six photo’s and letter from your owners club stating the agreed value.  They will be joining the MX5OC over the weekend (I’ve got to help them fill the online form in) and I was wondering who does the insurance valuation for our club?

Cheers

Marcus

Does this club not have an insurance valuations officer then??

There is no one on the commitee who has the job of valuer. In the past when I was a coordinator I was asked on a couple of occassions to do valuations, but I was always reluctant because of the possibility of the comebacks.

AON did my agreed value without photos or OC letter.

Mind you they aren’t currently flavour of the month with some when it comes down to cost!

I’ve done the valuations for two different models of car in another car club for the past twenty years and I’ve just given up the past only last week.  Most insurance companies want a valuation for what the car is worth if it was put on the open market for sale today, not Joe Bloggs type of insurance value who is trying to get a vast some over what the car is worth.

My parents have just bought (they pick it up tomorrow) a J-LIMITED from a MX5 specialist, but the insurance company who they have been with for years wants a letter from a car club stating its current value, why they won’t accept the reciept from MX5 City where the car is being purchased from is beyond me.  My parents are keen to join the MX5OC but if getting a valuation letter is going to be a problem, (which I feel is an important part of club membership), I just hope it doesn’t put them off joining.

Maybe now as the MX5 is getting older and more of classic status, then for the committee this is something to think about.
