Hey everyone,
We’ve noticed a rise in members using LLMs (like ChatGPT or Gemini) to answer technical questions on the forum. While these tools are impressive, we want to ask you to refrain from posting AI-generated responses here.
Here’s why:
- We’re here for YOU: The value of this club is the collective, real-world experience of our members. If an OP wanted an AI answer, they could have typed their question into a prompt themselves.
- The “Nuance” Factor: AI is great at summarising manuals, but it can’t replace the “I’ve been there” advice. It doesn’t know the specific quirks of our cars or the shortcuts that only a human mechanic knows.
- Safety & Accuracy: Technical specs and torque sequences matter. AI can “hallucinate” or provide generic info that doesn’t apply to our specific models, which can lead to broken bolts or worse.
The Bottom Line: If you don’t know the answer from personal experience or a known source, it’s okay to leave the thread for someone who does! Let’s keep the “Human” in our human knowledge base.
Thanks for helping keep it real, The Mod Team
