Air filter material for central heating.

I have warm air central heating.  This incorporates an air filter, approximately 16 x18 inches in size.  The present filter is just about life expired,  It is now unobtainable from my usual scource, (heating engineers supplier).   I have looked on the internet only to find a bewildering choice with all manner of technical data which I do not understand.  Has anyone any experience in warm air heating or more likely, air conditioning, who could advise me on the correct material to buy?   I look to buy a roll from which to cut several filters,  It must be reasonably pliable, it has to be rolled up to insert in the filter drawer, then unrolled flat.  Washable, I wash it once a month.  Be as efficient as possible in dust retention without undue restriction to the airflow.  I have looked a product from RS spares (733-5738) Which is classified as grade G4 filtration whatever that may mean!    If anyone is able to suggest, recommend, advise, decipher the jargon etc. to help me locate a siutable material I would be most grateful.

P.S.  No information is available from the heating unit manufacturer, long out of business!

I have recently replaced  a 35 year old ducted air system with a combi. In the latter years I used  fibre glass matting that was made for industrial air handling equipment filtering. It was very effective, disposable and I actually had a contact so it cost nothing.
