Fitted a rollbar yesterday, on purpose not taken the seats out because i didn’t really had to (moved them forward and put a blanket onto them)
Suffice to say the airbag light did not come on before so i must have done something but don’t really know what.
I don’t really think there’s anything about the airbags there i only saw the amp on the left, the speakers and something on the rhs that i don’t really remember what it is.
The rollbar leg has fallen onto the passenger well behind the seat twice , not sure if there’s an airbag wire there.
Just trying to get ideas what and where to look before taking all the trim out again…
Check under the seats as there will be plug/socket for the airbag wiring connected to the seats. Maybe one was disconnected when you moved seats/dropped the rollbars during fitting. Usually coloured yellow.
I would disconnect the battery and make sure any residue power is discharged before playing with any wiring concerning airbags.
I did take the drivers seat once to fit the lowered brackets and I don’t really think the connectors can disconnect that easily. I’m more thinking I hit a wire and severed it - if there is any on the back of the passenger seat going forward through the tunnel.
Flashing, not continuous on off on off. If you know what I mean. looks like a pattern. I plugged my Bluetooth obd reader and another one from a mate (general cheapo one) and there’s no codes. I really don’t want to be taking all panels, unplugging and plugging back everything
Hello mate, I know this sounds like I am making it up but…if you count the number of flashes the airbag light does, you can use a look up table which will tell you which part of SRS is being naughty.
My guess is you accidentally unplugged one of the seat belt pretentioners when you were taking the trim out.
Also, check that white component in the middle of the car just by the fuel filler release puller. I think it might be a bit SRSish.
I found it on the internet a year ago when I accidentally broke my clock spring when fitting a new steering wheel.
I will look for the web link if you video the flashing light and we count the number of long flashes followed by the number of short flashes. The seatbelt pretentioners plugs are yellow and look exactly like the yellow airbag connecters. They are located next to the seatbelt reel.
It has been the standard for quite a while now that anything to do with the SRS should have clearly identifiable yellow plugs to differentiate the components from the rest of the electronics.
I wonder if you have bashed the multiplug under the seat and damaged a wire.
Airbag, heated seats, load sensor and seat belt clasp are all wired through the same large plug.
I would also look carefully at the wires running from the seatbelt reel and the side impact sensor to see if any have been damaged.
Did you disconnect the yellow plugs going to the seatbelt reels? The ones with the little black piece that pulls out before removal.
Edit: Ignore the above, flash code 63 is related to the drivers side side airbag sensor, not the pretensioner. This is the one positioned just rearward of the door apature. It didn’t receive an impact during fitting of the bar did it?
I had to take the trim out and try move the roll bar a few mm forward (was way too close to the latch for my liking). And hey presto…
Culprit found…
I don’t really know how i did it, i can’t see a way removing these plugs easily but it was disconnected. I plugged it back in and honestly I can’t explain the satisfaction of hearing that sound
A quick check confirmed that all is well, albeit still no clue how i did it.
I should be compiling the roll bar installation guide soon.
