Alarm Hic-up!!!!!

I have a MazdaGaurd MVSS 6402 OE Plus system ( Cobra 6402 ) fitted to my car and all was working ok until I gave it a good clean yesterday and now for some reason it wont lock / unlock the doors [:S] ! I can using the key… The alarm is armed / unarmed ok lights flash as they should, LED blinks but its stopped working the locks… Fuse’s have been checked… I have re-synchronised the key fob but its having none of it[:@] !!! The central locking works fine with the key but nothing with the fob  [::(]!! Any idea’s  [I] ???

Are you aware that the alarm has it’s own CDL fuses?

Nope i had no idea it had… any idea where abouts they are???

I found 3 fuses which i assume are the ones for the alarm 5 / 10 / 15 amp and they all look intact. They where found behing the fuse box in the car… not sure if there are any more?? Ill check to see if there’s any under the bonnet near the central locking fuse box… Fingers crossed… [;)]

Those 3 sound like the alarm fuses to me, were they under plastic covers? The door solenoids do have a habit of seizing up on the Mazdaguard alarms. There was a recall which was to water proof the solenoids. Out of interest, does your car have a cheap looking yellow sticker next to the VIN plate under the bonnet?

They where found inside the car just behind the fuse box hanging under the stering collum, 2 stuck together and one by itself. The 5amp one made the alarm bleep when removed and put back… all seemed ok though… Central locking works fine with the key but no longer works with the alarm key fob so im still scratching my head !!! Nothing could be found under the bonnet that would help…

Just checked and no yellow sticker is next to the vin plate… I know its an upgraded mazdagaurd alarm as I have the certificate to show its now a cobra 6402… I called cobra but they just gave me another number to call but thats no longer working  [::(]

Is your car an iS? If so I’d probably look at the solenoid in the drivers door (iS only has one as it has factory CDL) and check feeds. If it’s a 1.8i or 1.6i (these have one solenoid in each door) then it’s unlikely that both solenoids have seized together. You do really need to check for feeds to the solenoids next though.

…just re-read your first post and you say that the CDL works OK from the key so I’m guessing it’s an iS.

I have a 1.8 s so I’ll have to check my solenoid in the door next?? Work calls so it will have to wait until friday or the week end, any way of checking the solenoid when i get to it?? how easy is it to replace ( can i get hold of a new one easily ) ??

Cheers

Ive taken the door panel off and tugged and pulled at all electrical contacts that i could find but still no joy!! I did notice that when i unlock the passanger side door with the key the central locking doesnt work but does with the drivers side key!!  Not sure what i should be doing next??

The passenger door not operating the drivers door is normal. You need to check for a live feed to the door lock solenoid, you need a test light. If you don’t have one you can make one out of an old 12v bulb holder and bulb. I get the feeling you may be a bit out of your depth here. Will you be coming along to the ER tech day? There will be all host of knowledgeable people there to help you out.
