Alloy Wheel Tool/Key

Hi folks,

Looking to get in touch with anyone who may have a tool similar in appearance to the one in the photo. It is for the OZ alloys fitted to our BRG Limited Edition NA. Unfortunately our car didn’t come with the tool and we are having a right time of it trying to track one down.

It would be great to find someone who has the correct tool so that we can get the exact measurements for it and the set about possibly having a new tool made.

Thanks very much,

Sean & Steph

Long shot but try RT Racing who deal with TVR cars as a few years back they made up the tools as some early TVR’s had OZ alloys with the centre caps.

Hey,

Thanks very much for that suggestion - really handy to have a pointer towards somewhere that could help. I got in touch with OZ and received an extra large shrug of the shoulders - which was a little disappointing! Thanks again:)

Whats your location?
Maybe someone near you has one to take some measurements from, the tool/key is specific to the receiver on the hub cap so finding the tool on its own will not be of any use to you unless you get lucky and the tool/key fits yours.
You will also need the threaded parts shown in the pic.
Simplest way to solve the problem is to replace the hubcap securing bolt with a hex bolt and just have an actual locking nut on the wheel.

Hi Leman,

Thanks very much - that sheds a LOT of light on the situation. We hadn’t realised that there is the tool - and then an attachment for the bolt itself. Agreed that the easiest way to solve it will be to replaced with a hex bolt. We’ve managed to find a garage local to us that can help. They are going to have one of their mechanics who has a lot of experience with tricky wheels gets the bolts out and then we can look to replace them.

Thanks very much for the picture - its ideal.

Cheers,

Sean and Steph

My pic might be misleading?
The tool obviously you can see but the long metal bit is actually a spare tool minus the handle☺
Garage should sort it easy as there not very tight.

Ah right!

Even better

Out of interest, did the spare tool come with your car or did you pick it up somewhere?

It was a spare I was given years ago but there are only 3 bolts so an incomplete kit, still be usefull if I damage one bolt on my wheels
