Alloys advice

Some advice please. I have a pristine 59 plate MX5 but the alloys are slightly scuffed. I was thinking about having them powder coated in black. But thought original silver may prove better when maintaining authenticity. Any thoughts?

To me black wheels make the tyres look weird, as my brain expects the tyre to be the blackest part of the car.

Silver gets my vote.

Silver, not a black wheel fan but each to their own.

What colour is the car?

Just to balance things out, I love black alloys and will be getting some on my red NC at some point. I do think the colour of the car makes a big difference in the choice though, as I’m going for a red/black contrast for my car and alloys will be a key part.

Having said all of that - either are great and ultimately it’s a personal choice. Go with your…um…heart?

I will be getting my NC wheels powder coated . On my list to do .I’m go’ing for gunmetal as she is silver.

59 plate. Jet black. Silver wheels for me are the best choice.

Colour is copper red. Thanks

If that was my colour id opt for bronze or gold or gun metal but thats the great thing about taste and views. its all subjective

How about Shadow Chrome, has both silver & black within the mix :sunglasses:

Black for me.

I like black but it does accentuate the rusty bits of the brakes.

My Mazda 3 wheels are black (as for all SkyActiv-X 5 door cars) with a little bit of metallic flake in them. This is only noticeable when they’re clean and in bright sun.

Just think the wheel gets a bit lost. But again. It’s all subjective

It is all a matter of personal choice, with a red car silver or black or I think they may term it anthracite look good.
On the 25th anniversary it looks great with the roof colour in black.
I used to hate cars with dark coloured or black wheels, I first hunted for a red NC with black wheels, the Kuro now I have white with probably I call anthracite coloured wheels. How your personal tastes change🤔

I’m a fan of a slight “anthracite”… Hides the immediate appearance of brake dust, looks a little different, but is still very evidently lighter than the tyres.
