Alternative steering wheel for NC

I’m disappointed with the appearance and the thin feel of the steering wheel on my recently acquired NC especially compared to the Nardi in my MK2.5.

Are any alternative steering wheels available which also have an air bag?

Got mine from these guys… http://royalsteeringwheels.com/mazda/

HIGHLY recommend them and it really does transform the feel of the car having a bit of girth in your hands

Mine came from these people:

Here are the pictures that spurred me on to buy it:

When photobucket gets back on line I will post one of mine

Bypassed Photobucket, this is mine after I had swapped/painted the trims

That looks nice! How much and do they offer different colour stitching? Their website isn’t the greatest tbh.

I agree the website needs some work, mine was around £200 a couple of years ago.

They will customise to your requirements, stitching, centre stripe, leather/alcantara, smooth or perforated, anything is possible because the hand make each one individually. Drop them a line as the exchange rate may have altered the price.

The only thing I would say is they use donor wheels for the work and you just tend to get the wheel and basic plastic parts, no airbag, I swapped mine along with the buttons, the back plastic parts I sprayed body colour keeping all my original parts should it ever need to go back to factory finish.

I found the standard wheel quite thin but now I love it, the flat bottom just looks neat in my opinion.

Good luck in your choice.

Pete

That’s not too bad. I was expecting more. But I’d be looking for something very similar to yours with blue stitching and maybe blue centre stripe to match the body colour.

Those wheels look better but still based on the original wheel with the cheap looking huge hard plastic centre bowl. Until I find something better I spent £15.50 on ebay for a stitch on quality leather wheel cover. It ticks the boxes for me as it makes the rim noticeably thicker and feels great. It doesn’t tuck behind the spoke trims though so not as neat as your wheels but for the price it’s a fantastic upgrade.

Got mine from Poland-based Motor-o-Polis; completely customisable. I was happy to keep the airbag centre section, but if you get in touch with them explaining what you’re after they may be able to oblige. Quick to respond and very helpful.
