An MX5 newbie and a tale of great service - Skuzzle Motorsports

Hi,

I’m new to MX5s having just bought a second hand Mk3 after years of saying to myself ‘I’m going to get one of those one day’. I’m just about to change job and will have a 120 mile round trip commute to work every day (I can work from home when required) and the journey includes a lot of twisty roads through the Cotswolds. I bought the MX5 to make this part of my daily routine fun and it be interesting to see if the love affair continues using the car as an everyday’er.

I paid £5100 for a grey 55 plate with 59000 miles on the clock, FSH and leather seats. So far I have absolutely LOVED the experience and felt I had to get on the forum and let everyone know!!! Laughing

One thing I did notice was some corrosion underneath and so I did a quick search on this forum and another and came across Skuzzle Motorsport just down the road from me in Winchester who would do the underseal and cavity treatment.

I can only say that the whole experience was without doubt the best ‘garage’ experience possible. Nick who runs Skuzzle has to be one of the nicest down to earth guys I’ve ever met and for someone like me who is new to MX5s, was brilliant at answering all my questions and generally giving me some great advice and about the do’s and don’ts of MX5 ownership. He gave my car a good inspection, reassured me that he could sort everything and now my car has the lovely whiff of Waxoyl - but no more rust worries! Cool

I will be making sure that I use Nick for all my future servicing and tuning. It’s a bit of a trek but I know that my car is in great hands and what he doesn’t know about MX5s isn’t worth knowing.

Just thought it was worth sharing in case there are other guys in Hampshire area who aren’t particularly happy with their current servicing. I’m not in the usual habit in giving endorsements but it’s quite rare to get great service these days so when it happens it deserves to be recognized.

Anyway ’ Hi everyone’ and I welcome your comments and advice about using an MX5 as a daily 120 mile commuter.

greetings, welcome to the clan.
