And so it begins......Rust protection Mk1

I’ve just dropped off my 97 UK Mk1 down at Iver into Anand Vaid’s care.
Day 1 photos and will update as the week progresses with further photos.

that looks pretty decent already!

You’re right, but I’ll be able to put that bit of doubt about a few bits to bed at the end of the week and sleep well for a good few years ahead.

And so it begins……Rust protection Mk1… Sadly, I’ll think you’ll find it never ends.
Hope it goes well and is long lasting.

Day 2

1st coat of paint… Corralles glass reinforced paint…
Over ZINGA primer…

Looking good!

Yeah, sure is. The guy doing it is just so enthusiastic, once I’d had my free inspection a couple of months ago I knew I could leave the car with him for a week and not worry how the job would be done. What can be taken off is taken off, for example the front wings so that they’re cleaned and treated properly.
Can’t wait till Friday when I get to pick it up.

Have to say, it does indeed look a thorough job. Lovely to see all areas given the ‘treatment’ will put a lot of much newer cars to shame when it’s all done :+1:

I guess the taking photos filled in the time while the paint dries?
Did you also treat internally?

The guy, Anand is doing the work and keeping me up to speed with the photos.
He does all the cavities including the windscreen surround after peeling the seal off. Sills injected and even inside the boot lid frame gets a coating too.
Not too long to wait now, picking it back up Friday.

Almost ready to collect tomorrow…
This guy is thorough and takes the time to find what’s lurking in those places others may ignore.

May I ask what you paid for this treatment?

£600.00

that looks a bargain for the work done!!!

That’s surprised me TBH? I expected it to be quite a bit more :+1:
That’s great value by the looks of things. If I’m honest, seen this chap more recently on the mx5 OC Facebook group and for some reason, didn’t gel with some of his comments? Probably me really  but I have to say, he’s gone way up in my estimation, which counts for absolutely nothing, I know!
Brilliant job being done there by someone who obviously knows what he’s doing? Pity he’s so far away from me

In all honesty he prices the work once he has done an inspection which includes a borescope examination too. Once that’s done then you get you’re quote, mine was not one where the mot shows the “advisories” so certainly not the worst he’s seen and done.

Have just come back from picking the car up which was on the ramp for me to have a gander. Needless to say, well pleased.

Final snaps.
