Any Scangauge users out there?

Does anyone use a Scanguage (or something similar) esp to monitor fuel consumption, if so is it accurate/useful?

Does it display MPG or Kilometers per Litre?

many thanks - Richard

Yes. I monitor mpg, bhp, revs and speed - last two becuase I haven’t changed them to something else yet. The mpg guage can give you mpg, km/l or various other things if you can be bothered to program the guage. The Scanguage 2 that I have is slightly annoying for entering prices / litre when it’s really set for mpg but the simple mathes does give a very accurate result for journey costs etc…if you can be bothered to tweak things every fill up and if you haven’t got a queue behind you at the pump. Not sure that it’s worth the purchase price though when a receipt and a calculator can do the same job to be very honest.

Cheers Col

Thanks for the response colk2004 - yup I’ve used the calculator method for years - I’m one of those saddos that records all petrol purchases (came from when I had a company car).

In the days when I used to commute on a 30-mile regular route I could experiment with a new (to me) car to find the most economical speed - after all, why waste juice just gpoing to work? - and this gave useful info for long journeys where a few extra mph made little difference to mpg, or a couple less saved a few bob.

So - I thought - “is there a toy I can get that will give me spot readings to achieve the same effect?” -

and of course, to play with. And to do my own diagnostic checks - I hate the thought of paying 50 quid for someone to tell me one of my plugs has failed prematurely! (As opposed, say, to an ignotion coil)

And indeed, with the tendency to miss off instrumentation on some vehicles these days - such as temperature gauge - some of the obvious stuff on mine, and relative’s cars …

As a matter of interest, do you simply mount yours on the dash or steering column? I have found lots of dashboard-chopping mounting solutions, but I don’t fancy that approach much!
