Any thoughts about Swissvax Products

Hey Ninja.

Correct - thats the one i was looking at; the 50ml SV Shield sample pot.

Don’t worry the waxes i generally use are primarily for improving the look of the paint in terms of gloss, depth, shine, etc.

I normally have a base sealant applied first, then wax, then a topper like Sonax BSD or Zaino Z6, etc on my weekly routine.

I have tried CarPro Reload… a few years back; it is a decent product plus i know its been reformulated since too.

No arguments there and even C2v3 or a mix is a great top up regime.

Ceramic sealants i only use on the alloys for now… but as time goes on - very tempting to try it on the paint.

Maybe when i oprder my next new car i will look at that option.

Over the cleaner fluid I have ran it plenty of times without, it is a nice product though unlike Zymol’s HD cleanse which is a hateful product.

I agree there has only been a small amount of development the new lotos product in 2015 was good, but on the wax front Swissvax have been steady whilst increasing the price (it makes Zymol look cheap now).

I think the main problem with many of the ceramic products and nano ones is the time they take to dry and cure. Plus in some cases the VOC contents are silly, although Kamikaze resolved that well - Tim from Clean your Car though got rid of them because of poor product delivery and packaging (I know that Ultimate Finish took up the UK distribution but upped the price in some areas).

Agreed most are not these days all down to prep.

I would avoid using using BSD or Z6 as the wax is then not protecting your paint but the BSD or Z6 and defeats some of the object of putting the wax on. Heck I know some that use BSD as an LSP it lasts so well.

I know I am controversial on that point, but very few people can see it (all they see well it adds more protection - true but not the product you paid lots for in some cases).

For wipedowns at the end of a wash I use Last Touch or Citrus Bling - both very diluted with DI water providing no extra protection.

Nope - that is my intention; the waxes used are generally show waxes to add gloss/depth and visual impact;

as already stated - the the BSD topper is deliberate to take the stress off the show wax itself.

I have employed this system for 2+ years and it works well.

Never really got the whole point of why people keep topping waxes like this as then you are just getting more of the topper product and not the expensive one.

Take Vintage for instance (both my cars are wearing it - although only one has been protected), but I have not but anything on top to enhance protection as I want Vintage to be doing that not some cheaper product.

If you are using sealant first then wax it should be strong enough alone without any cheap topper product on top.

I know of at least one former pro and the current owner of Carpro UK holds somewhat an interesting view on topper products…

In the real World…You may be right…If I was using a wax like that, I wouldn’t use a QD Topper either

BUT

They are useful to use after a wash particularly with cheaper products

If time is an issue, they are worth it to many people and shouldnt be dismissed

As this is a Swissvax thread…then I too, as I say, would ONLY use that

Well there you go - each to their own - everyone has their ideas and approach.

My approach is mostly focused on show prep and gloss/depth rather than outright protection.

Use what works for you and your circumstances - then enjoy!

Chris I do not deny in situations like that, but to be used immediately after application would be considered inappropriate.

If time was an issue then going straight to them is helpful and skip the wax step or when the protection is near the end of life.

That seems odd as most of the show prep and gloss is not really from the final steps, but more the polishing step. If you are focused on show prep and depth then go for sealant and 'nuba without the top layer as gloss and depth are quite different and very few products do both.

Ok matie - as I said each to their own… I use gloss boost products as a last stage as well as the polishing prep, etc etc.

I’m happy with the results and awards on my car at various show and shine events across the UK. Plus awards on cars I’ve helped prep.

I’m not here to argue but share my opinion

Do you have any pictures of the said Show And Shine car

My Flickr account is full of pictures on my last 3 cars… All award winners or runners up - thanks for asking.

…and the link to your Flicker account to see them is…?

Private and shared only with friends & family.

What a very strange attitude to have to my question

You dont even say what car you drive…Its clearly not an MX-5

You state that you have done award winning car detailing…and yet you are not prepared to share even one picture

Does seem odd I know few detailers not willing to share pictures as that is usually the best bit! I cannot deny I love taking a snap and sharing it with like minded people instead of the usual it will only get dirty again or you will polish the paint away crew .

Very true… Ninja; good point. Every one has their opinion don’t they.

Sometimes best not to share pictures as they get taken and put onto Ameture detailing pages & business pages for false advertisement too.

I’m sure they are good pictures & if they have won the show & shine fair play to you! I’d love to enter my cars into a show & shine this year but haven’t got the time at the moment.

Disagree Kf

So why mention it?

If Car Detailers show their cars, then they must be used to having photos taken…so that’s not a reason for being so blunt at all …In short unreasonable

Unless…You have something to hide of course…IMO

However…You never really know who you are talking to you and what their motives for posting in an car Forum is IME…I’ll leave it that for the time being

Nice of you to post - thanks for the comment.

Loving the blue on your ride there my friend;

that must be a real pleasure to detail for sure

So if you were a ‘Master Detailer’ or even an amature you’d happily let someone take your photos… don’t think so…

Thanks OCD,

It’s a lovely Car to work on. Fairly soft paint though so have to be quite careful with it, although it’s coated in Gtechniq C1 so it’s a doddle to clean!

Quite easy to protect them by watermarking if you are that worried. From a professional point of view well worth doing, if you are an amateur and an apparent “professional” decided to take them I would probably see it as a compliment then complain.

I have posted plenty of pictures all over the place in the previous 10 years of detailing (more some embarrassing ones from my early years of detailing!), my main problem are the ones that have only just picked up a machine polisher in the past 5 minutes as an amateur now are suddenly “professionals”, these are more likely to take pictures without prior permission.

Soft paint is fairly straight forward to deal with when washing you just need to ensure there is more lubrication and take care.
