I think that Kurust is tannic acid. Fertan also.
And Jenolite, for example, is phosphoric acid in gel form.
They’re all expensive for what you get.
Does anyone have direct experiences of using commercially available phosphoric acid,
the % concentrations,
dilutions ?
Comparative prices…
Kurust £8 or £9 for 250ml .
Phosphoric acid : About £10 for 500ml.
For larger quantities of phosphoric acid, there is also Milk Stone Remover, available at farmer
supply stores.
Anyone used Phosphoric acid ?
Check out KBS protection paint system. I just used it on full suspension, subframes ,shafts, shocks, fuel tank etc on 1991 mx5 and I highly recommend it. It uses 3 part system. Kleen for removing grease etc (I sandblasted my parts for no need to use this) Blast (phosphoric acid) and it worked a treat. Brush or spray it on wash off thoroughly with water after approx. 30 minutes It eats its way in to metal or any remaining rust and by next day all parts have brown acidic power coat to which the Rust Coat adheres to .Excellent job and I will be using it again no problem, 1 ltr of each cost me 110euro ( approx. 70pounds) incl delivery from Sweden but you nay have agent in UK. We don’t have here in Ireland. The 3 pack kit done 2 subframes,8 wishbones,4 hubs,3 shafts,2 anti roll bars, and very small amount left over to touch up bolts etc after fitting. I think 1 ltr of there thinners may be handy to thin the coats slightly.WARNING’’’'IT STICKS TO EVERYTHING AND WILL NOT BE EASY TO REMOVE ESPECIALLY FROM SKIN.I HAD TO SCRAPE IT OFF WITH STANLEY BLADE FROM THE BITS THAT GOT ON MY WRIST FINGERS EVEN USING GLOVES.I have photos of process if you need them.
