Anyone out there able to refurb a Nardi Leather Gear Knob.

I have purchased a knob with scuffed leather.

Actually I have two knobs so I can raid the badge off one to make the best of the two complete.

Does anyone have the expertise to refurb it for me.

Happy to pay for someones time and materials.

Please help.

Five or six speed? I’ve got a six speed Nardi knob in ‘as new’ condition which I promised someone several years ago I’d sell for them - for £5 plus postage. Love to get rid of it?

It would give me the excuse to visit her again!

Hi.

Out of interest does the 6 speed have same fitting at 5 speed.

If so i can live with the extra superflous number.

Thanks for the thought Gerryn.

The knob i have is 5 spd. It needs a refurb.

Not in my area of experise so thought I ask in the club to see if anyone can help or knows of someone who can help.

Cheers…anyone?

If its scuffed, easy to DIY refurbish, if its anything like refurbishing a worn steering wheel. Sand it smooth with 800 grade wet and dry, clean to remove any dirt, grease. Then use a black leather dye from someone like Furniture Clinic, seal with a gloss top coat (Furniture clinic also do an epoxy additve for high wear areas). Tone down the gloss with a satin coat.

Or you can get a brand new one

Close enough in style to the common Nardi shifter fitted to all S-Specials and S-Limiteds

Thanks.

Unfortunately only Amazon in stock and with shipping the cost is £140.

I reckon I could get someonr to refurb the original for 50% of that.

Ta for your suggestions though. Most kind.

You are either not looking hard enough, or are inpatient. £45 from Driftworks, you just have to wait a couple of weeks

I’ll spend 10 minutes with it with some sandpaper for £75. Honestly, if its just scuffed, its an easy fix, cost is about 10p plus whatever kiwi polish goes for. No need to pay anyone. If its ripped, bin it and buy a new one. Have you actually tried Mazda. Most Mazda dealers have access to the EPS and can order from a Roadster VIN. If its in stock in japan, it will be with you in 5-10 working days. The part number is M518-17-520A. The part was fitted to Eunos Roadsters 1992-1997.

Alan Gun in Florida used to refurb these Mazda Nardi knobs.

I would just buy a new one though, and pop out the thread insert from one of the scrap ones you have. I doubt anyone would charge less than £45 to refurbish one; likely, if you insist on new leather and stitching, its going to be £100+.

Thank you for your comprehensive reply.

I am not sure I’m impatient or not looking hard enough. I was merely asking for assistance from people that know much more than me about such things.

Your advice is much appreciated.

How easy is it to pop out the thread from an old knob and insert in a new Nardi Prestige Knob? Whats involved?
