Anyone use a BBR NC as a daily?

Just curious.

The recent window issues im having are certainly not great. And reading the snippets here and there about the cost of getting the bonnet sorted after a low speed collision (not that im planning one of these of course).

Im kinda looking and thinking there a lot of stuff to go wrong here. (Looks disapprovingly at the price of the headlamps - the funky LED matrix thing is cool - love it - but if I ever needed to replace a headlamp - man alive thats a lot.

It has therefor crossed my mind that maybe a BBR modded NC might not be a bad choice. But I have no idea about reliability and such.

Im just thinking aloud really - but curious if anyone has experience of one in day to day use.

It’s absolutely fine, very smooth and loves Superunleaded. Returns mid 30s mpg.

What’s not to love?

I use my 2010 NC “Super 200” as a daily runner and it’s fine. ….not sure what issues you are anticipating?

My car is dyno ed at 208bhp, was done approx 15 years ago and apart from running on E5 99oct fuel it’s no different to a standard NC, just much quicker and more fun!!

I have had it lowered and had Meisters coil- overs fitted to complement the BBR works.

Hope this helps.

Nothing specific.. but obviously it’s not stock so they may exist. Though as I understand it even the stage 2 upgrade still only has 10 lbs of boost which isn’t a lot (could be wrong).

I’ve been dailying my 10 year old Super 200 ND for the last year and 10k miles ish. Nothing has exploded, or gone wrong in any way. I think you might be over thinking the ND issues. They’re really reliable, but the window regulators and the rear bushes are consumables. Neither are particularly expensive to fix when compared with anything German or French. And if you have a crash it’s usually and insurance job anyway, surely?

Maybe, but hope for the best plan for the worst

Window regulators really should be consumables. (Even assuming they were have replaced one I’m still have odd issues - see my other thread wrt to this :cry:l

Been using my 2015 NC3 BBR equivalent tuned with no issues at all.

Yes, no issues. Although my commute is tiny. But fun!
Think I need to clean out whatever it is that gets blocked up (need to search on here) as it’s suffering from a lot of condensation inside. But that’s not a BBR 200 thing of course.

I used my super 200 to commute for around 12 months.

No issues over and above standard MX-5 things really.

MPG was 30ish on a mixed commute of cross country twisty stuff and Croydon traffic.

Never suffered with overheating or anything like that. Ran like a sewing machine.

What happens if you run it on 95?

MPG is not as good…..drops to 30 ish but on 99 I get mid to high 30s ….Plus on 99 it is more live!y making far better use of its BBR tuning

Ah ok, but the engine will be fine, I thought that you could only use 99 after the conversion.

Nice!

You only really need worry about that if you have gone the FI route. I am reliably informed that the NC ECU is now smart enough to know the difference in fuels even if a remap has been done.

My BBR rebuilt (forged internals) and supercharged NC pushing 275bhp isn’t my “daily” per se but is the vehicle of choice when the situation allows (ie no passengers or load to carry)
