Anyone using WAZE navigation and can help?

  1. My model of MX-5 is: _NC - 2011
  2. I’m based near: __Landgraaf
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __WAZE Navigation

Hi All,

For navigation I use the Waze app on my Iphone. The Iphone is connected via bluetooth dongle to the radio ( Bluetooth to AUX in dongle).

This works great, and the navigation voice volume is loud enough. Can change this with the volume button of the radio

However, when I then start Deezer ( or Spotify) to listen to music, the volume of the music is loud enough, and when the navigation voice comes in the music mutes, but the voice volume is then to soft to properly understand and hear it. I can dial up the volume, which results in a very loud music volume.

I have tried everything to get the volume of the voice of the navigation louder, but this only results in also the volume of the music to get louder.

Has anyone an idea how to fix this, so that the voice of the navigation is as loud as the music ?

Not sure if apple is the same but for Android

  1. Open Waze.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap Voice and sound.
  4. Move the “Guidance volume” slider upward or downward to adjust the volume.

I have tried this, it is on max volume and when ni music is playing it works great, but as soon as music is playing the voice seems to get quieter

What about turning the music down on the phone to be the same as the waze instructions - then controlling the overall volume via the car buttons.

On mine, android auto, when the voice announcements are active/spoken increase/decrease the volume on the audio unit. Doing this should only alter the navigation voice not the music/radio volume.

Not sure if this will work, since I have connected the iphone via bluetooth to the radio. so all sounds coming from the iphone will be influenced by the volume button on the radio.

I am still thinking it is a setting on the iphone, but have tried all I could find.

Maybe it is just not possible. ( also haven’t found anything on Waze website)

I “think” this is what you mean.
Open settings on your iPhone.
The Apple Maps setting, (bear with me).
Scroll down to Spoken Directions.
Open it up and you will see Softer- Normal -Louder.
Try the Louder one.
It’s my understanding it applies it to all the Navigation Apps.

These.

I’m only used to android I’m afraid, wife had an iPhone a few years ago, couldn’t get on with it (neither me) then the battery died, so she was glad, back to android.

I wish I only had problems like this🙂

Thnx Mate, That did the trick.

The voice is now louder than before. ( tried it out this morning on my way to work)

Maybe it is just me, but when the volume control for speed is turned on on the radio ( AFC ), it seems the volume of the music get louder but the voice doesn’t, but that can also be just me.

I think I can also adjust the volume of the music itself in the Deezer app. Or run the Deezer app separate from the waze app. Now the Deezer is coupled to the Waze app, but I can also disconnect it and run Deezer by itself.

Will give that a try later today.

Again thnx You have earned yourself a digital pint

That’s good news! :+1:
I use My Route App and had a similar problem.
Thanks for the beer

If it’s any consolation, although I do use Deezer myself with android auto it’s the most temperamental music app I’ve used. It logs itself out on my phone so won’t play my tunes through the car, it’s also deleted music tracks randomly, in fact whole albums.
It’s a free to use app so it’s a not a big problem, now if I paid for it🤔

 we have the paid version, and have had no issues with it.

Try MUSICOLET - Best off line player i have found so far.
Hated Deezer.

Will have a look thnx :+1:

Buts it’s just a music player, not as Spotify, Deezer or Amazon music like to download?

Sorry - thought you just wanted a player.

Musicolet works for me - I have it loaded on to the phone - and the android based head unit in the car.
I have around 90GB of music already saved to memory sticks/cards
This way I don’t need a signal to play music wherever I am.

I’m trying to get myself some tunes to download and save without the above mentioned apps, are they your own tunes, buy, download from wherever to play in that particular app?

Ex brother in law was a DJ
I used to look through his cd collections and use windows media player to rip them to hard drive.

Then I use Stamp ID3 to add any album art that is missing.

I also pop in to CEX locally where they regularly have albums for as little as 50p
