I have a 07 2.0lt sport and for my birthday had a K&N apollo air filter fitted .It sounds great have turned radio off seems a lot faster.Does any one know how much extra BHP you get ?
Unless you change the exhaust to match the better inlet your gain is mostly in your head. Yes they sound great but the power gains are almost immeasurably small and any gains will be at 7k not lower down the range.I assume it’s like an induction it, these can actually reduce power as they tend to suck hot under bonnet air in rather than source it from the front of the car as on the standard system. On MX5’s it’s not too bad, on some cars with inlet over exhaust it’s a total waste of time.
The way to improve power is to increase the amount of air/fuel mix that goes into an engine and the speed and volume of exhaust gasses. It’s like breahing, large deep breaths in, big huffs and puffs out. Simply changing one of these items on its own will not make that much of a difference.
Still it helps to fuel an entire modding industry and of course the K+N filter will not need to be changed as it can be cleaned and re-used.
