Apple car play updated

  1. My model of MX-5 is: rf launch
  2. I’m based near: north herts
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Apple car play updates

Hi all when I bought the car it came with Apple car play installed onto the Mazda infotainment system. Does anyone know if I need to keep on top of the upgrades and if so how do I achieve this?

I don’t think so as the car is only replicating what is on your phone. It is the app on your phone that needs to be up to date.

I am not aware of the phone having any kind of app.

I’ve just noticed it start to randomly disconnect occasionally and fail to recognise the phone via usb. After 5 mins or so it tends to reconnect and be fine again but it is annoying when on busy route and gps just drops off screen :joy:

Worth updating the infotainment firmware to 74.00.324 if you haven’t all ready.

Worth it to upgrade the infotainment firmware to 74.00.324 if it hasnt already as it includes quite a few bug fixes. Pm me it you wnt to do the update.

Waze and Google Maps do the ‘work’ on the phone, the infotainment system in the car facilitates the information to be available to see and use on the car screen.

If you’re having connection issues it might be worth trying a different cable, faulty cables can cause issues.

I had similar issues around Jan (with the latest firmware already installed). I reset the infotainment system to factory and deleted the car from Iphone carplay list. went through the installation process and all has been fine since

Have tried a few aftermarket and official apple cables still seems to have its moments

I had issues connecting wirelessly and hardwired until I carried out a DFU (Device Firmware Update) on my iPhone. Nothing else worked, including resetting the infotainment system, but now all is fine.

The following video shows everything you need to know ref backups etc.
