But we absolutely must pay more money to make the weather better.
Otherwise we’ll all be drowned in 5 years time. This time it really, really, REALLY is going to happen.

It’s the price of being a Petrolhead.
Now who at the Revenue do I speak to about turning the rain off for a couple of days.
What do I win….![]()
Just got the VED renewal in the mail - my 14 yr old Volvo V50 is going to sting me for £20 for 2026/27
. It has been £0 for the last 14 years so I may keep it until this time next year, all dependent on what happens with the VED rates going forward….
Yes my wife’s 2016 Renault Kadjar went from zero to £20 last time. Still not bad though for a year. My NC 2.0 more than makes up for it though! Thankfully my bike, being historic, is zero tax and no MOT to worry about.
Just received my renewal invite in the post this morning.
It’ll be renewed from the 1st of March so, “that’ll be £345 please sir”. A tenner up from last year.
Just had the reminder for my 02 plate NB 1.8 sport. I don’t recall what it was last year but 12 months is now a not insubstantial £430.00!
But, its still ULEZ compliant, so its not all bad,
More like the price of being a cash cow.
One of two reasons, well three really, why I bought the ND 1.5. The VED is cheaper than say an NC, it was cheaper by a long way to insure but to be fair the NC had mods, my age and all that just didn’t go down well with insurance comps. Fuel economy is better too, just thought of a 4th reason, I couldn’t resist, too good to ignore![]()
One of 3 core reasons we finally sold both ours. Apart from high maintenance With our very low usage, the R.O.I. simply did not stack up. The 93 Mk1 was creeping up not far behind. The stupid aspect was….it’s MOT allowed NOX numbers are far more lenient even though it’s far dirtier. Anyway, our Booster engined Swift is only £195.00. Being pensioners….something had to give.
