Are MX5 windscreen washers unreliable?

Hi
The windscreen washers on my Mk1 seem inconsistent - sometimes they work fine, sometimes not at all. I recently had it serviced and they were blocked, which they fixed but then they only worked for a short while before stopping again - are they all just dodgy or is it just mine? any suggestions?

Strip it down, and clean it all. Then be more carefull what you fill them with!

Cheers - haven’t had it too long though, so i’ll blame that on the last owners…
don’t you just use standard liquid?

I’m sure it’sunlikely but they haven’t been freezing up in this weather have they?

I did think that because i’ve noticed it more recently but it seems to happen halfway through journeys when the engine is warmed up - works fine at the start when there would be no heat… the difficulty is that i’m not sure what the last owner put in - it might be the problem - maybe I should drain it and start again…

If the nozzles are still no good after cleaning then I would suggest going for a set of Fluidic Nozzles. Mazda do have them for the Legacy model and they do fit an MX5.

Cheers

Rinse the bottle thoroughly, theres probably slime blocking the pump inlet and nozzles.  Fill with 50:50 standard screenwash to kill the slime dead and dont use dishwashing liquid whatever you do, it contains salt as a bulking agent and you know what saltwater does to car bodywork!!
