Notice its getting on for 2k for a mk4 replacement fabric roof fitted if some nasty idiot takes a knife to it, would malicious damage be covered on insurance.
Probably, it is part of the car after all, but it’s best you read YOUR policy it will tell you there.
Received my insurance renewal today from LV, Not only is it around £5 cheaper per month than last year but it says that from this year it includes vandalism cover.
Yes, if someone not connected with you vandalises it but not wear and tear or faults in an existing roof.
The OP asked about malicious damage, not wear and tear.
A trifle pedantic Martin methinks. Drumtochty was clarifying and expanding his response. No harm in that. If your “other half” takes a knife to your soft top after a particularly bad argument , your insurance may not cover you for that, so best stay quiet in such a case.
I simply can’t see why anyone would want to blow their NCD by claiming on the insurance for a wear and tear issue?
If one’s other half decides to take out any frustrations on one’s car I think a slashed roof would be the least of the worries.
Or you could say “I accidently fell against the roof with a stanley knife in my hand”
Leave the wife out of it, they won’t believe you.
