Attaching photo's to posts...

Could someone please explain how I attach photo’s to posts here on the forum, its driving me nuts.

Most things eventually I’ll make work, but this, I give in!

I can attach files that can be downloaded, but how do I post a photo so it just appears in the thread??

Cheers…

Hi I’m definitely not an expert but I did put a photo on by just dragging and dropping it in. Might be worth a try.

This is a picture I just uploaded at postimages.org (other hosting sites are available), instructions are for postimages

Before you upload you can choose what size to display the picture at, 640 x 480 for message boards is good.

Upload the picture.

When uploaded copy the text in the ‘direct link’ box.

Open the post dialogue box on this site, new post to reply etc.

Use the image icon (little tree picture next to the smiley face)

Paste the copied text into the Image URL box and click ‘insert’ - you should then have a picture in your post.

Good one Ian, I’ll give it a go, thanks

This is a copy of notes I keep for when I want to place an image on the website.  try if you like to see how you get on.

How to put images on to a website

Save the image, with a name of the image onto a file ie DESKTOP for instance.

Give the image a name that you should try to remember when you want to put it onto the forum.

Open A site called “TinyPic.com” on GOOGLE and click on the ”TinyPic Free Image Hosting,Photo Sharing & Videos, site.(In my case, click on the icon, on the Desktop)

On the page UPLOAD IMAGES AND VIDEOS click on “browse” to open the file that has the image in that you want to upload.

Click on the image and then click on open.

Next to the File Browse will be the name of the image. Click on Upload Now

There is an option to reduce the size of the image by clicking on the down arrow, next to the DEFAULT setting.

Click on the IMG code in Forums and Message Boards

Highlight the IMG code and click on Copy

Note:- The picture will only show after the post at the bottom of the page has been pressed/clicked.

Paste the IMG Code onto the forum page and then click on Post at the bottom of the page.

If the club updated their host with something that lives in the 21st century and made it a more user friendly service, that’d be a start ! They must be paying very little to run this website.

I really struggle uploading photos here too !

I am a member of the French owners club site, its so easy and quick to upload photos…

I used to use Photobucket, but I now call it Photblocket (those that use it will understand…)
Flickr is a good one, and you can edit your pics, as well as choose a size for copying links from - although they will add extra stuff to your image,

for instance, copying the full link

[*url=https://flic.kr/p/24a7G3J][*img]https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4721/40140916702_16ef4d232d_n.jpg[/img][/url][*url=https://flic.kr/p/24a7G3J]MX5[/url] by [*url=https://www.flickr.com/photos/rgmp/]Rhys[/url], on Flickr (I’ve added * to break the links…)

gives you this…

MX5 by Rhys, on Flickr

But removing all the extra bits to leave the img tags only

[*img]https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4721/40140916702_16ef4d232d_n.jpg[/img] (added an *)

Gives you this…

Unfortunately, I haven’t worked out how to copy links on a mobile phone (it won’t show any) and so only use my pc to post pics.

I can’t help but plug my thread, hopefully it’ll help spell things out! Works just as well on mobile as well.
