Auto Exe Cold Air Induction Kit Filter

Hi,

My mk2 has an auto exe cold air induction kit with a K&N Filter and I want to replace it but is it possible to tell what kind of K&N filter it has? Local garage clean it as part of service and I’m not sure what bits need undoing to open it up! K&N website only brings up one type of filter for my car?

I’ve attached a pic of the induction kit!

Cheers

It will be a cone filter. You don’t need to replace it; get a K&N oil service kit from Halfords.Remove the filter, give it a wash, dry, re-oil. Don’t use compressed air on it.

Thanks Saz, I have been getting in regularly cleaned with k&n filter kit but it’s been on for around 80,000 miles so thought it would need replacing

Not at all, you’ll be fine.

Foam filters just need cleaning every 20k miles or so. Not like paper ones which need chucking out every time you fill up on fuel.

K&N panel filters are supposed to be cleaned/oiled every 100k miles, cone filters; 40k miles. Check for physical damage.

Over cleaning (or too frequent renewal) of an air filter has been shown to reduce engine life. You can get an inline indicator to tell you when a filter should be changed/cleaned.

Thanks Saz and Goodj
