Having got an automatic I found that I have to relearn driving skills.
This video (In a Renault) has transformed my understanding of the way to use the auto box.
Im hope it helps as now my MX5 Mk3 Auto really goes.

I like to drive manual cars, not a fan of automatic cars.
Automatics have come on leaps and bounds since my first experience with them in Honda Preludes, Civics and Accords when I was working for a dealer back in the late 70’s. before I retired last year I was a huge fan of the VW DSG’s in particular and I suspect most now come with a manual function which should provide a lot more engagement and fun than the old skool R D 1 2 3 slush boxes.
I’ve hired several cars in America and they were always automatics. All of them were fairly uninspiring and in one case problematic because it overheated in some of the national parks (the weather was around the 40 degrees Celsius mark). On the other hand, my Kona N has an 8 speed DCT and I really like it. I’ve also driven a 911 with a PDK a few times and it’s excellent. I’m glad my MX-5 is manual but I’d be more than happy to own more automatics in future.
