Aux plug on NC (2005)

  1. My model of MX-5 is: NC 2005
  2. I’m based near: kent
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: aux plug

I want to set up an Amazon Echo Auto in my NC, but there is no aux plug :scream: I have seen a few solutions but they all seem to be for 2008 and onward models.

Has anyone managed to add an aux? Ideally without taking the whole dash apart. TIA.

You need one of these below, it plugs into the rear of the standard NC head unit.

Some have managed to get at it by removing the glovebox lid and easing out the aerial connection, it’s a faff though.
The head unit does come out easily once you’ve found and removed the 10mn security bolt:+1::thinking:

Brilliant thanks. I was looking at this one…but it says 2006 onwards, do you know if it will work on a 2005 model?

It should suit your model too, pop out the radio and check first if you have that connection. That would usually be used to connect a CD changer.
If the radio comes out make sure you have a code for as it’s best to disconnect the power to it before removal.

Amazing thanks so much

You should have something like this on the rear, the smaller plug on the right.

That is really helpful! Thank you!

Out of interest does anyone know if the 92 V-special has an Aux in it?

The original factory head unit? Not the same one as discussed in this topic and I’ve never heard of an adaptor being available for one.
