Baby Seat Needed

Hi

I dearly would love to take my daughter who is 2yrs old out in my MX5, but have found out that Mazda don’t sell the car seat specifically designed to disable the airbag when in situ.  Has anyone got any ideas where I can get one from or what else I can do?

If it’s a front facing child seat there is no requirement to disable the passenger air bag as long the seat is in its rearmost position. It’s explained in your Owner’s Manual.

If your MX5 is a MK3 then you can turn the airbag off yourself, there is a switch operated by the key to do this. ALso the Mk3 (and I think Mk2.5, but could be wrong) have ISOFIX mounts so if you get a seat to clip onto those it’s easy. Easier to insert seat (and child) with the roof down too!

That seat is a Bebeconfort Axiss so it rotates through 90degrees, to put the child in and then swings back. It is not Isofix, but would recommend ISOFIX as it’s much easier to change between cars

Hi sorry for delay in getting back to you.  The manual says only to fit a Mazda seat which deactivateds the airbag when installed.  I can’t just turn the air bag off.

Thank you so much for your reply.  My MX5 is a 2.5 but I can’t find anywhere to deactivate the air bag.  The manual just says to install a Mazda child seat which automatically deactivated the bag.
