Battery Clamp issue

2008 NC. Took the battery off to charge it but dropped one of the long clamp screw type things. This appears to have fallen into the radiator and i can’t get to it. tried a telescopic magnet, no luck. Dont fancy driving it and it possible damaging the fan.Any ideas of the best way to retrieve it? This is the view from the top and my hand doesnt fit far enough.

Jack the front up (use axle stands) and remove the under tray… it should hopefully drop out but that’s your best access in any case…

DO NOT START the car, i did the same when changing the battery, as stated jack the car up and remove the belly plate, my battery tie down rod was lodged in the crank pulley slots, God knows what damage would have happened if i’d tried to start the car.

NC is cam chain behind a cover so although it wouldn’t have been great it would probably only been damage to the serpentine belt

Might long-nosed pliers give you the required extra bit of reach?
Or water pump pliers?
Or somebody with smaller hands than yours?
Good luck.

Someone with smaller hands and a smaller phone than me managed to get a picture of it. It doesn’t look in the way and I had to get the car started as it is being remapped Thursday. Its currently off the road as I don’t have room for it at home till i get rid of another car. Fan blades stop the use of long nosed pliers. I’m resorting to attack form underneath probably at the weekend.

Jacked the front up, dropped the undertray and there it was. Job done.

Lesson learnt.:+1:

I loosen the nuts but leave them attached to the hook, then twist the hooks off, they come away attached to the securing bar.:+1:
